Mixed Media Background Card
Look on the Brightside - At Least You have an Umbrella…
This super fun mixed media background (of sorts) pairs fabulous with this adorable mouse in a rainstorm.
The layout is cute and whimsical. The colors are playful & fun.
The background is compiled of beautiful combination of distress inks & a spritz of water mingling together on a stamp block. The stamp block is then stamped and smooshed onto a layer of white cardstock.
After the layer dried, splatters of mica sprays were added and the end result was a playful backdrop for this too cute mouse and his umbrella.
A zig zag frame popped up with foam tape made the perfect stage for this cute little mouse. The negative piece cut from the frame became the perfect spot to headline the sentiment “ Look on the Brightside”.
The sentiment comes from Pink Fresh Simply Sentiments (fabulous sentiment stamp set). The stamp was inked with 3 shades of color to create a gradient style… and then - this happened…
I lifted up my block and the bottom of the letters hadn’t stamped, so I carefully tried to set the stamp back down in place in order to get the bottom of letters stamped - this is where using a stamping platform to begin with would have been a great idea!
However, I didn’t! And as you can see my aim was not perfect. However… given that this card was a whimsical creation the happy accident I was left with was going to work just splendidly!
The imperfection was only going to add to the simple point of this card “looking on the bright side”.
A few raindrop embellishments, that I colored with my alcohol markers to coordinate with the background, were added to the card front for some slightly “extra” interest.
Leaving this little mouse in a rainstorm looking on the bright side… which brings us to the inside sentiment
“at least you have an umbrella” ( this sentiment was typed from my keyboard & printed ).
This card sends encouragement and reminds us to look for the good in every situation…
