Create a Cute Valentine Card
Today’s super cute card features an adorable collaboration of a playful pup and a fluffy feline, capturing the essence of affection for Valentine’s Day.
Not just for February 14th—it's a delightful way to express your “pawsitive” feelings any day of the year!
A few markers and pencil crayon etchings added to this charming illustration absolutely brought this card to life. With each stroke, layers of personality emerge, drawing the eye in and inviting the imagination to roam..
Not only were dog and cat united on this card front, Copic Marker and pencil crayon become allies to create a more detailed look for this image.
Often when coloring a subtle image such as this one, I choose to go in after the coloring with my Copics and grab a few shades of color pencil that will coordinate with the colors used. (Prismacolor are my absolute favorites). I then add some light strokes and etchings to resemble scruffy looking hair into the image, along with some added shading. Just a few pencil strokes gives the image added texture that makes the characters more life like and just gives them a little more heart.
Add in some “ruff-ly” etched hearts to dance around on the paper, paired with a splatter of coordinating ink color to complete this adorable pair.
The sentiment was just a phrase that I typed and printed myself and then trimmed up to fit the desired position on the card. Remember: you don’t have to buy the perfect sentiment, or have it already in your craft stash - you can simply create your own!
Share the love with a sprinkle of whimsy! Literally…
This image comes from Whimsy Stamps digital collection- I Adore You.
** I love creating with Digital Stamps, and mostly for this reason - I see an image I like, I have instant access to it - within 5 minutes of seeing the image I can be creating with it and putting into play whatever drew me to the image in the first place. If I wait for images to be shipped, I often forget the creative plan I had for them before they ever arrive on my desktop. Maybe I have a small attention span, maybe I just like creating on demand! :)
Whichever method of stamping you prefer, digital or physical stamping, have a look over at Whimsy they are sure to have a stamp set, dies or stencils that will invigorate your creativity.
