Scrap busting Halloween Card
Using paper scraps to create fa-boo-lous Halloween cards!!
We’ve all got paper scraps!
Little scraps and pieces of pattern papers & cardstocks.
In every nook and cranny of my craft space I have bins of colored cardstock papers and folders full of pattern papers snippets. Here and there - they are everywhere!!
How about you?
Do you have paper scraps?
If you are like me and you don’t like to trash paper pieces, you probably have plenty of scrap papers.
Even though they are completely recyclable, we don’t like to part with them. Crafters tend to be hoarders of sorts and with just cause - these papers are not only beautiful, they cost us hard earned dollars and we’ve come from a thrifty era… and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!!
The super fun Halloween card below is proof that these paper scraps can be completely useful!!
This card was easily created using scraps of paper that were left over from other projects!
The cardstock pieces were off cuts from background or matting layers from other cards.
The pattern paper were tidbits cut from recent Halloween card projects.
And … actually even the image and sentiment were from a file of leftover items when creating some of the cards from this year’s Fall-o-ween celebration!
Measurements for this scrap busting card:
Pattern paper - 2 1/4 x 5
Green cardstock - 3 3/4 x 2 3/4
Black cardstock - 2 3/4 x 3
Don’t forget slip the black piece of cardstock into an embossing folder to give it a little added dimension and interest.
Creating a background for your card scraps:
Have fun with a background - do some ink blending with vibrant Halloween ink colors, use splatters or mica sprays, even just a sprinkling of water to create added texture. Just have fun with it! It’s Halloween, you can’t go wrong!
When you’re happy with your background attach the pattern paper strip to your background.
Adhere the black paper scrap to the green paper scrap, add foam tape to the back of this section and adhere slightly over the patterned paper piece on the card background.
The fun pumpkin image on this card comes from PolkaDoodles - Ghastly Ghosts. This bundle comes with plenty of fun Halloween images and sentiments!! Best purchase I made this season for Halloween crafting, I’ve used it so much!!
Use foam tape to add the image.
Glue the sentiment in place.
Attach this whole layer to a card base cut at 4 1/2 x 11, Scored @ 5 1/2.
Add some gems or sequins to complete this Spook-tacular Scrappy Halloween Card!!!
