Oh Crumbs! It’s Christmas - Card 3 Christmas in July +

I’ll share a little tidbit about shaker pieces that I use when creating shaker cards that gives you fabulous shaker pieces at a really cheap cost!!

Q: What can be more fun than fun little gingerbread men on a card front?

A: Fun little gingerbread men featured on the front of a shaker card!!

Capture the magic of the holiday season with this delightful Christmas card featuring adorable gingerbread characters! The fun shaker card format adds an interactive touch, making it a super cute and playful way to spread some cheer. The card is as yummy and delicious as it is charming, making it the perfect sweet surprise to send to your loved ones this Christmas.

If these 3 gingerbread men aren’t adorable enough to make this Christmas card sweet - the slim line shaker featuring tiny tidbits that resemble cookie sprinkles put this card on the top of Santa’s list!!

The little gingerbread people are so adorable, and apparently very yummy, since one even has a bite taken out of it.

If you think these 3 images are cute you really need to see the whole set of these delicious little characters!

I purchased the whole digital gingerbread & holly bundle from PolkaDoodles - mostly because it was just to cute not to own the all of the simply adorable characters, gorgeous Christmas themed papers, 43 fabulous holiday greetings, PLUS this amazing cookie shaped alphabet that allows you to create any word or phrase you desire! Have a look for yourself! ( below)

So this bundle includes black & white images to color, as well as pre colored versions of those same images (36 images in total), 24 printable pattern papers, 43 greetings, the cookie alphabet images, plus the cutting files for all of the images!! All at a very low price - how can you go wrong?

I like to pick a theme for my cards each Christmas Season - so all of the cards I send out on a particular year will be of the same theme, so snowmen or deer. Recipients will refer back to me and say “oh yes, last year you gave out those beautiful snowman cards”. That’s just me and one of my little things I do!

How about you? Do you create all one theme for Christmas cards or do you like to a variety of different themes when planning your Christmas cards? Let me know in the comments below.

I know this year the cards that I will be sending out will be from this Gingerbread & Holly Bundle. I simple love it! and who doesn’t love receiving gingerbread men - even if you can’t eat them?

So now that I have shown you the super fun products used to create the featured slim line shaker card in the Christmas in July Series - lets get into a few more details about the the card.

A slim line card traditionally measures - 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. So the cutting measurements would be 8 1/2 x 7, Scored @ 3 1/2. For me … depending on the longer sized envelopes I have on hand, I sometimes have to take the card down to 8 inches so that it will fit in an envelope that I already have and I don’t have to create a hand made envelope.

Not that I mind making a specialty envelope - they are quite easy, but that’s a story for another time.

You can make the card at a height that you may already have an envelope for, a 1/2 inch is not going to make any difference in your recipient’s eyes.

As for a slim line card - I do love making them! The design can give you many possibilities when creating a super fun card and it’s just a new refreshing look opposed to the traditional rectangle (A2) look. ( yes I realize the slim line card is still a rectangle).

When creating a slim line card is it a very popular technique to use windows or cut out down the length of the card. It’s a great option when you have a few images that you want to use on the card front. Or if you want your card to tell a bit of a different story that requires a few frames to translate the story. ( I am creating an example of this today on another card - not Christmas themed).

The Christmas card today has used this type of design to show off 3 of these adorable gingerbread men images.

Another great use for windows or frames on a slim line card is that it gives great opportunity to turn a card into a shaker card, since a shaker card usually involves a window type design so that the shaker bits can be seen behind a character or sentiment.

Windows make it very easy to create shaker sections on your card.

This card technically has 3 separate windows behind those gingerbread men. Which allows the shaker bits to move freely and evenly behind each of the images. Let me know if you would like to know my secret about easy affordable shaker bits?

“Oh Crumbs! It’s Christmas”- that sentiment just crumbles me!
