Hocus Pocus!! Create a Super Fun Halloween Card

How adorable is this cute little witch?!

She’s not super scary, but she makes up for it cuteness!!

This card design actually works up quick and painless. A few cuts of paper, a playful background, a sentiment….. oh…. and this super cute little ghost image from PolkaDoodles!

You're the Hocus to my Pocus

The ghost is from the Ghastly Ghosts printable download - it contains 16 images, and 16 sentiments as well as a set of pre colored images. So to create this card you can choose from so many ghastly cute ghosts or even a few pumpkins. I absolutely loved this set for Halloween creating this year… I have used it so many times.

Being that we are on the subject of images, we will just go ahead and color the image ( you may decide you want to color a whole sheet of them at once to have plenty for your Halloween crafting ).

I colored this little ghost with a purple hat with black to grey details for the hat, along with a matching ribbon on the broomstick. The ghost was just shaded with an N1 & N0 Copic marker, and blended out with a 0 colorless blender. Then finishing off the broomstick and the coloring was done. That easy!!

The Hocus Pocus sentiment was not from this printable set, however was from another PolkaDoodles printable and for the life of me I can’t remember which one. I’ve searched and still haven’t found it.

I will update this as soon as I figure out which sentiment bundle it was from - I’m sure that will happen in the middle of the night when so many other great thoughts come to the surface. :)

Let’s get on with this card…

This card starts with a piece of white cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 ( I usually cut it just a tad bigger when ink blending so I can trim of the edges a bit before fitting onto the card base ).

I started with a light purple ink and blended into 2 other darker shades to come up with a happy blending of purple background.

I then added a little spatter of water to this panel and continued with a some grey splatter as well as a touch of purple splatter. These splatters were simple ink from the stamp pad and a dribble of water, mixed and splattered with a small paint brush.

The background was set aside to dry while I cut the rest of the pieces for the card.

Pattern Paper - 2 x 3 3/4

Black cardstock - 4 x 2 1/4

Yellow/Orange - 2 3/4 x 3 1/2

After the background was dry I adhered the patterned paper layer to the ink blend panel.

Before adding the Orange/Yellow section I added texture to this piece of cardstock with an embossing folder. I chose a pattern that would sort of mimic the straw from the broom, or at least add a bit of interest.

I glued this piece to the black cardstock piece and then used foam tape to adhere that whole section as pictured onto the card front panel.

Using foam tape I adhered the adorable little ghost image, and added the sentiment using glue.

The front panel was attached to a card base of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, Scored @ 4 1/4.

A few purple gems from my stash were added to complete this super fun Halloween card.

Have fun with this card layout and the Ghastly Ghost images - there are so many cards that could be created just by switching up colors and images.

Oh, Oh, Oh… here are some amazing Halloween printable papers that will work great with these images.

Let me know how your card turns out! Can’t wait to hear!
