Happy Birthday to Me!

So… yesterday was my birthday - so I made myself a card!

Hey there is no written rule that you can’t make yourself a birthday card - So I did!

And… that’s all we are going to say about that…

The card started with a random stencil (one that happens to be my go to ), blending brushes and a few oxide inks that are mentioned below.

After ink blending a background, I added a bit of splatter to the background.

I had absolutely no idea at this point what I was going to use for a focal point for this card.

After trying a few different images - none of which I liked. I stamped and colored this yummy looking cupcake from Trinity Stamps.

The cupcake look ok… however I wanted the card to have more than just a delicious looking birthday cupcake.

So I shuffled though my stash to find a little something more to add to it.

These cute little mice from the Lawn Fawn Dandy Day stamp set looked like they might work. One of the mice was perfect to project the image of the mouse blowing out the candle!

I stamped a second mouse from the set - well just because the scene was going to need more than just the lone mouse.

The sentiment as well was chosen from this stamp set, mostly because I just love the message. I cut the stamped strip in several sections and added it in a whimsical layout across the top section of the card.

With the ink blotted background blend in several colors of distress oxide inks and the colors of the cupcake, as well as the mice this card was looking busy enough, but still cute - so I decided to add some gems that were clear and would not compete with anything this card front already had going on. They added the perfect little sparkly touch. -Paper Rose Shaker Elements

All in all - the card turned out really cute, and I was super surprised to receive it for my birthday!

Happy Birthday to Me. Love Me.
