Festive Hedgehog Greeting + Mail Strike
Although the card below is simply adorable and makes for a super cute Christmas greeting card, the card is more of a notice than an intended Christmas card today…
I live in Canada, where Canada Post is currently on strike as we proceed into the Holiday Season with silver bells and chestnuts roasting on a open fire. The long standing joy from traditions like tree decorating, baking cookies, Christmas choirs and gift shopping will prevail…..
Ooops… wait a minute!! It will prevail as long as your gift packages are not being routed by Canada Post in any way, otherwise your gifts will be facing an uncertain future with possible “non delivery” and lost packages due to the pile up of undelivered mail.
This also means that the beautiful Christmas Cards that we create and send to friends and family for the Holidays will also not be deliverable… unless of course the big red guy himself would be willing to whisk them around in his sleigh? However I hear it’s a pretty busy season for him!
Normally, it would soon be time to get those lovely cards into the mail to avoid the seasonal rush of festive mailings.
For Me - it means that I will not be able to ship cards from the Creative Card Design Card Shop since Canada Post is required for that service. Cards are still available via local pick up.
It also means that I will not receiving any new product to create with at this time - which is ok ( other than items currently in the postal system will probably be lost forever ). We will continue to create with products that I already have and since I tell you guys that all the time “use what you have” - I will indeed be taking my own advice in the weeks to come.
Great News!! I will still have access to digital stamps - since those are not hand delivered. I must add that to my list of pros in regards to digital products! :) So as long as I have paper we are good to go! Do I have paper?!?! That’s a whole other blog post. :)
For many small businesses such as myself, this postal strike will have a devastating effect on these businesses, my heart goes out to everyone that is working their way through this road block. If you are in Canada and you are in a position to still support these businesses who do rely on Canada Post services but may still have a pick up option, please try to support them.
Hopefully, the strike will be short lived and delivery services will resume with minimal financial damage.
If you have been spending the last few months creating beautiful Christmas cards and you now won’t be able to send them out in the mail - please consider donating them to a local long term care facility. Receiving a lovely card can bring them so much joy and comfort, and it’s certainly the season for that…
Be the reason someone smiles….
