“Bear-y” Christmas Card
Festive Wishes for a Very Bear-y Christmas come from Bella Bear on this holiday card front.
She’s sweet, she’s festive, she’s engulfed in a winter wonderland, and she is “not” featuring the traditional Christmas colors.
As I pulled a piece of soft pink pattern paper paper with hints of beautiful iridescent snowflakes from my stash - I thought 2 things. Firstly - what a gorgeous paper! Then second - “I’m going to challenge myself to finally use this paper featured on a card front”.
For the most part I am pretty traditional when it comes to Christmas cards and I tend to use your typical reds, greens and maybe the occasional blue and of course golds and silver. When it comes to reds I steer more in the direction of a deep red with hints of burgundy if possible. For green I would typically choose a combination that was close to an evergreen tree shade.
This chosen pattern paper was definitely not going to have any tolerance for red and green or even blue, I didn’t think while peering at it.
On my desktop, I had a few leftover printed images of adorable little wintery characters from Polkadoodles, created while doing some other cards. Amongst the few images was Bella the Bear. She seemed to be grabbing at me the most when it came to choosing an image - so Bella the Bear it would be.
There seemed no other color choice for her hat and scarf than a shade of pink that would coordinate nicely with that gorgeous pattern paper. So I colored her up using my Copic Markers.
Next was the bauble on her hat and of course the present she was holding - what color would I make those and still keep within the colors of the pattern paper?
I decided to go with pink for the bow as well as the accent color on the bauble. Adding in the sparkly silver would grab the iridescent highlights from the background paper. How did I get the sparkly silver. I colored the items in greyscale and then used “Stickles” to carefully trace in the Christmas bauble and the wrapped present. After drying, the effect was beautiful!
I adhered Bella onto a circle cut from Vellum to give her a soft landing onto the card front. Added a white glittery snowflake die cut, a few rhinestone gems, as well as a few tiny snowflake embellishments.
The “Festive Wishes” sentiment was tucked in behind her, and now this adorable Christmas Greeting card was just perfect!
I absolutely love the card and can’t wait to share it with someone this holiday season!
