Another Market Card… Another product review - with a Super Fun Result!!
Previously we had a look at a market themed stamp set from Altenew - Grown with Love - this time we are creating a card with Produce Stand from Art Impressions.
Produce Stand is actually a stamp and die set combo from Art Impressions that is designed to create a tri fold card.
I purchased this set a few weeks ago when Art Impressions was a having a great sale, in fact I purchased a few things. Who can resist? The sale was great and it’s $15 bucks flat rate shipping to Canada. Great shipping price for a great sale.
Let me just say, I have no affiliation with Art Impressions other than I love their product! Any time I have ordered a product the shipping was fairly quick, the products were great quality and customer service - fantastic! It’s definitely worth sitting on their email list and watching for great sales.
Before I get you off on a shopping tangent, let’s get back to the creation of this card.
So the Produce Stand set was intended to create a tri fold card and the directions are easily explained on the package with full color illustrations and written instructions. Which is an absolute bonus!
Hmm.. a tri fold card, I did set out to make. I have made a tri fold card before, however this particular one has peekaboo window cut outs, so it was going to have to be perfectly lined up on all 3 panels for stamping and die cutting. This seemed like a job for a stamp positioning tool - so I pulled out my old “stamperatus”. That happens to be what I have so that’s what I use… in a perfect world I would own a Misty! Perhaps someday…
This seems like it would be a great time to pop out a photo of the card, and then perhaps explaining the how to’s and what to do’s will make a little more sense.
Ready??!!
Here it is…
So as you can see from the photos - there are some super fun elements to this card!
To create each of these stamped layers, I placed the stamp in the stamp positioning tool the first layer, lined up the next stamp and so forth.. so that when the card was closed and the little market stand window was opened you could see all the layer of dimension as well as the little racoon eating the watermelon! To cute!
The dies are super easy to use and simple just line up to cut out the window frame ( including the little sun shade roof type thingy ). The second die cuts out the area above the fruit and veggies in the window view in order to see our little racoon friend who seems to have the munchies.
I used copic markers to color the image, so needless to say the back of the layers had bleed thru from the markers showing on the back of the layer. In this case the back of the layer is part of the card due to the tri fold layout, so cut pieces of pattern paper to the same dimensions as each section of the tri fold, placed each of the dies over the correct sections to cut out the window spots. This worked great to cover up my marker mess.
The card was really quite simple to make and the end result was a really fun card that is sure to entertain the recipient.
So I guess it is no surprise when I tell you than in my opinion the Produce Stand stamp set from Art Impressions was far more “impressive” as far as the card it produces.
It was also far more impressive in price - I paid $9.89 (CAD) during the sale. I think the regular price is approx. $17 bucks. Overall, I would pay full price over the $15.99 for the Altenew Grown with Love stamp set and no fun!
I’d love to try another market themed stamp set out!
Does anyone know of one?
