The making of this card:
To begin the creation of this card I printed 2 copies of the digital image at approximately 3 1/4 inches x 4 1/4 inches.
I then colored the image using Copic Markers. Here are the Copic Combinations used:
Brown for the Bear & Tree: E37, E35, E33
Red for the berries and Bella’s hat: R39, R27, R35
Green for the stocking and holly leaves: YG67, YG17, YG25
Hat & Stocking Trims: N1, N0, 0 (colorless blender)
Snow on the card bottom: B60, BV0000 + Glitter Pen
When using these combinations I have listed them in the order they are used. So the first marker number is the shadow layer. The 2nd marker number is the mid tone, and the 3rd marker color is the highlight.
When coloring small images like this one I like to keep with a 3 marker solution for coloring each color.
After coloring the tree, berries, and snow on one copy of the image I blended a slight bit of blue ink to create clouds on the background of the image. I die cut this copy of the image using a classic postal die, cutting of the edge where Bella’s hat is just slightly as I wanted it to hang over the die cut when I add her.
I put this image aside and started to work with the 2nd copy of the image.
I colored Bella and the holly leaves in her hand. Then fussy cut around her image. I added foam tape to the back of Bella and placed her over the space where she fits on the 1st copy of the image that I worked with.
Giving Bella dimension and bringing the image a little more to life.
I chose the pattern paper from the Christmas printable papers so that the red and green stripes would coordinate with the colors that I had used in my image. I cut this background panel at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and placed it on the front of a card base cut at 4 1/4 x 11, Scored at 5 1/2.
I added foam tape to the back of the postal cut image and adhered it to the card front leaving just a little more space towards the bottom of the card.
I then added the sentiment from the Christmas sentiments pack to the very bottom of the image with just a touch of foam tape. The foam tape really makes the focal point pop from the card front!
The sentiment “ Have a Beary Good Christmas” was absolutely perfect for this card!
I finished the card off with a few adhesive snowflakes from my stash. If you don’t have snowflakes you could use rhinestones or other gems to depict snowflakes.
In the end, I absolutely adored this card, and its certainly worthy of sending to someone on my Christmas Card list!!
