Thanks a Ton- Create a Simple Fun Fold Card

Creating a fun fold card doesn’t have to be difficult!

Designing a fun fold shouldn't require the expertise of an architect to construct your masterpiece. With a sprinkle of creativity and a dash of enthusiasm, you can whip up an impressive greeting card.

Layering a few quick paper folds can transform simple paper into an interactive story that will add a surprising twist to your greeting card.

Incorporating die cut shapes, like a playful circle or rectangle, can elevate the design and add an extra layer of flair.

This simple fun fold “Thank You” card features the charming Polkadoodles Tons of Love – Flowers for You Elephant. With a backdrop of Pretty Spring printable papers, this card sets the perfect scene for this adorable Copic-coloured elephant. The playful “Thanks a Ton” sentiment complements the theme, while expressing gratitude.

Measurements to create this card:

Color Cardstock - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 , Scored @ 2, 3 1/8, 5 3/8, 6 1/2

Pattern Paper 1 - 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 (Cut 2)

Pattern Paper 1 - 2 1/4 x 5 1/4

Pattern Paper 2 - Scalloped Rectangle approx. 3 x 4 1/4

Instructions to create this card:

Cut & Score the card pieces.

Fold the score lines like a valley, then a mountain (or like a Z fold) on either side of the colored cardstock section.

** At this point I used a scalloped edge die and cut the bottom and top edges of the card while it was folded into position. So I folded the card into place and then positioned the die and tacked it down with a bit of mint tape, and ran it though the die cutting machine. Cutting the edge while it was folded allowed the scallops to stay perfectly lined up. This step is not necessary, it just adds a little fun to the card.

Adhere the Pattern Paper 1 pieces to the coordinating spaces on the card base.

Attach the scalloped rectangle cut from Pattern Paper 2 to the front section ( the part that sticks out like a chimney ).

***This fold is sometimes called a chimney fold.

Next: Color the adorable elephant image using copic markers, pencil crayons or whichever coloring tools you prefer. Check out all of the adorable images in the Tons of Love Collection cuz they are so cute you may want to make tons of these cards using different images and the super fun sentiments.

Plus!! Don’t forget that Polkadoodles images come also come in a pre colored version! So if you don’t like to color…

Next: Add foam tape to the back of the image and attach to the scalloped rectangle.

Adhere the sentiment to the card front. I chose to cut the sentiment so I could glue it down in a more playful manor.

Add a few rhinestones, gems or dots for a tiny bit of added interest.

Where do I write a message? Is that what your asking right now? Easy… cut a piece of white cardstock at 2 1/4 x 5 1/4 and attach it on the back of the card. The written message or added sentiment is stuck away behind the folds on the backside of the card.

Just a note: This card stands for display so beautifully!!

Hopefully I didn’t forget anything - luckily the card is easy enough to figure out if I did. :)
