Scary Cute Shaker Card

Image you are standing on the edge of the forest on a late October evening, the sun has long since gone down and the moon is casting a bright yellow glow onto the tall birch trees in the background. The night air is crisp with an autumn chill and a spooky silence is floating all around you. The air is still, the sound is silence, until… someone gives the card a shake and bats fly from everywhere!!!

Your first thought might be “EEK!!”, or at least your second thought after your feet started running. :)

These super fun bats come from Whimsy Stamps - Batty Die Set .

The shaker bits - Confetti Sequins - Batty

EEK! Word & Shadow Die -

Background star stencil - Galaxy Galore Background Stamp

The card base background was created by stamping the Galaxy Galore background onto a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of cardstock with Versimark Ink. I used a black shimmery embossing powder ( which I can’t think of the name right now ) and heat embossed.

The 2nd layer (or the shaker section) was cut at 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. I stamped using Versamark Ink again with a birch tree stamp from Sweet November Stamps, and white embossing powder, and heat set.

I masked the moon section with a circle cut from a sticky note, then ink blended using the same blue inks from that blended the stars background on the first panel.

I removed the moon mask and used some shades of yellow and a tiny touch of grey to create color for the moon.

Here comes the shaker card -

The shaker part of the card was created using a piece of plastic wrapping. I keep the packaging from stamp sets, dies or other products to use for shaker cards. A piece of leftover wrap was cut at 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, scoring all edges at 1/4 inch.

I placed the shaker background facedown on over the plastic sheet applied tear and tape to all sides of the back of the shaker background. Peeling the tape backing off of 3 sides and folding and adhering the plastic sheeting on all 3 edges. ***One side still has the backing on the tape. Creating a little envelope of sorts to hold the shaker bits.

Add the shaker bits to the little envelope packet that was created for the shaker.

I added the Confetti Sequins Batty as well as a few midnight blue sequins, and some tiny silver pieces that actually create weight so that you get that nice shaker sound when shaking the card. I find this helps the shaker bits to move around nicely.

Peel the backing from the last strip of tear and tape and secure the last side of the shaker window.

Apply tear and tape to the back of this panel and center it on the original background panel.

Cut your favorites bats from the Batty Die Set, add any desired details to the bats and adhere to the card front.

Using some white cardstock and a few ink colors, blend the card stock piece with a gradient color effect.

Cut the word part of the die from the ink blended cardstock.

The middle part of the word die with black cardstock, and finally the last layer from leftover ink blended cardstock.

Glue the sections together to create this fabulous EEK! greeting, and adhere to the card front using glue so that it will hold nice and secure on the slippery texture of the window sheet.

Attach the finished section to a card base cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, Scored at 4 1/4.

Then shake away!! Enjoy playing with your new Scary Cute Halloween Shaker Card!!
