Owl ways be here for you… hand made card
The focal point of this card starts with an adorable owl from a Sweet November stamp set.
That’s right, the focal point is not that relaxed quarter moon hanging in the background, though it is very focal.
This card was inspired by seasonably warm winter evening looking out in my backyard where an owl sat quietly peeking from its perch in an old maple tree.
While a quarter moon hung in the sky it wasn’t shining on the owl, it was actually way over and above on the left of the owl. The owl sat in the dark and couldn’t barely be seen as I attempted to take a photo.
I couldn’t help thinking if I could swing that moon over to the side the owl was sitting on and use it as a light source I would be able to capture a photo of the owl using the moonlight.
The way the imagined the photo was look was just there lingering in my mind and I decided to create the picture perfect scene on a card front.
Just moving away from the scene in my backyard that night… this owl and moon image was easy to capture in my thought process from a more juvenile aspect. My 2 year old grandson and I have watched“Twinkle, twinkle little star” via video each night before he goes to bed for quite some time. It’s our little thing.
In the little video clip there is an owl who after a brief dance in the sky with a star returns to his branch in a tree where his eyes get very sleepy and it’s at this point that my grandson starts to get very sleepy eyes as well and he is ready for a calm nights sleep.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that many of my cards come from little animations that I have seen through my grandchildren’s eyes on their daily adventures. It makes for a fantastic creative process.
As adults we tell children to use their imagination - as creators we can use this same advice to elevate our artistic designs on a card front, wether it comes from a moment with a child or a glance out your window.
