This week’s card designs are sure to be quick - My son is getting married on Saturday and I have a ton of things on my “to do” list including the cake! So this week’s blog content will definitely not be lengthy.
This card starts with a simple background layer cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I added some random splatter to this layer with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray - Chartered Mariner. This gives the layer of a beautiful splash of blue.
I downloaded the Mocha Coffee Cup image from Polkadoodles and uploaded into Adobe Express. To start I resized the canvas to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. This ensures that I can work with the digital image and do any adjustments while using a space that will be the same size as my card front.
I duplicated that image on the canvas, turned the image and made it a little smaller, so that both coffee cups were exactly the same. I moved the larger cup to the back and tilted both cups to make them look a little friendlier. When I was happy with the size of the image that I would be using on my card front ( for this card the image was approx. 3 1/2 x 3 1/2), I then saved and printed the image.
I colored the coffee cups using Copic Markers - BG 49, BG 45, BG 32 for one cup, and WG 5, WG 3, WG 1 for the second cup. The wraps and the lids were shaded using N2, N1, 0.
I then used the faces from the Lawn Fawn - Year Fourteen stamp set to stamp cute little faces on the coffee cups. You could use any faces you have - however right now this stamp set is cheap, cute and not a bad one to have in your stash for those teen cards - they always love a punny card.
I fussy cut the image along with the little sprigs of steam.
I cut a 2 1/4 x 4 1/8 strip of the lovely patterned paper from Polkadoodles - Summer Breeze, and adhered it to the bottom of the spattered layer.
I wrapped bakers twine a few times around the layer and tied in a bow to the side to create a separation between the two layer of paper. I secured the twine under the bow with a glue dot.
The coffee cup image was added using foam tape, and the sprigs of steam were just glued in place above them on the card layer.
I adhered this layer to a card base of 4 1/4 x 11, Scored at 5 1/2. Then added a few gems for some sparkle.
This card turned out just so darn cute that I can’t wait to send it to someone!!
Who should I send it to?!
