Christmas Bella card with Gift Card Holder

Do you have someone on your “Santa list” and you just don’t know what to buy for that person?!

We all do! I don’t know anyone who knows exactly what to gift every person they have on their Christmas list. Many of us are left deciding that the recipient may rather a gift card to purchase something for themselves rather than end up with something that wasn’t useful to them.

I know it is the thought that counts when it comes to gift giving and that it somehow revolves around giving a gift from the heart, something you want the recipient to have - however when it comes to my teenage grand daughter I know in my heart that she would rather choose something herself from a store she likes rather than be gifted a wonky sweater that I made her in a color she absolutely can’t stand.

She’s going to get the sweater and say “aw thanks Grandma, I can’t wait to wear it”, yet at the same time I know that is code for - I’m throwing this in my closet and it’s never going to be seen again.

So a gift card is going to gift both of us - She gets to pick something she likes from a shop she likes, and I get to keep my hand made sweater for someone who really wants it. My stitches won’t be wasted on the bottom of a closet floor or shoved in a corner for the kitty to sleep on.

So in this case - “the thought that counts” is the one where I realize that this teenage girl would rather a gift card from a trending shop than my hand knit sweater. This should tell her that I know her and have some clue as to what she would like or at least definitely wouldn’t like. :)

So here’s an adorable card that Grandma made with a gift card in it!

Crisis averted, and I have a gift I know my grand daughter will love. She may not be that keen on Grandma’s knitted sweater but she will however love the adorable bear on this card front. Cuz who wouldn’t?

The card has a few simple paper cuts, an embossed front flap, an adorable bear image, cute sentiments and an easy to make gift card pocket inside.

Let’s get down to the creation of this quick and easy gift card holder:

Printable images and sentiments from Polkadoodles:

Bauble Hat Bella.

Printable paper from Polkadoodles.

“Beary” Cute sentiments from Christmas greetings.

Cutting Measurements:

Cardstock - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 , Scored @4 1/4

Pattern Paper - 7/8 x 4 1/8 (Cut 2) , 3 1/2 x 2 1/4 ( for the pocket ) Printable paper

Instructions:

Place the card base in paper trimmer and cut from the bottom of the card edge up to the score line at the 1” mark on either side of the card front.

Place the flap larger flap section of the card base into an embossing folder and emboss this section of the card front only.

Glue down the 2 smaller flaps into place onto the card inside.

Adhere the thin pattern paper pieces onto the just glued down flaps.

Using a small circle punch or a small circle die cut only a portion of a circle out of the remaining pattern paper piece to create a thumb notch.

Using a thin tear and tape or liquid glue adhere only the 2 sides and the bottom of this section of paper onto the bottom of the card inside. Leaving the thumb notch side open.

Attach the printed sentiment “ Have a Beary Good Christmas to the pocket for an inside greeting.

On the card front:

Print & Color the Bauble Hat Bella image.

** I used some Stickles on the Bauble and the gift that Bella is holding for some added shimmer.

Using foam tape adhere the image to the card front. Be sure to leave enough room for the sentiments.

Print and adhere the sentiments from Christmas greetings. “Ho Ho Ho” & “Christmas Wishes” to the card front.

Add a few gems, sequins or rhinestones.

That’s it!! So quick & easy! Yet such an adorable Christmas card with a Gift Card Holder!

Just a note: The cat will have to find something other cozy object to sleep on… :)
