A Fun Interactive Rocker Card featuring Bob the Dog…
Sail the Ocean with Bob in this fun interactive rocker card as he sways to and fro in his yacht!
A 6 x 6 Rocker card with a *Bonus coordinating envelope tutorial!
I used Bob the Dog in a Boat digital image, pattern papers, and sentiment - all from Polka Doodles (details below) to create this circular 6 inch card/with envelope.
How cute does this trending rocker card design look with Bob in his boat sailing the ocean waves?
When I created this card originally with the traditional measurements for a rocker card design - it was just to small!
I wanted the card to be bigger…
So I created this one using a 6 inch circle that I cut out of cardstock using my cricut machine. If you don’t have a cricut or similar cutting machine you can always trace a luncheon or dessert plate and cut that out.
Once the circle was cut I gently folded it like a taco… once the edges of the circle matched I used a bone folder to crease the fold exactly in the center of the circle. This creates the card base.
I cut a 2nd circle from the same cardstock at 5 3/4 inches in diameter and placed it on the front of the half circle card base.
I cut this gorgeous paper that is one of the digital papers included with the Bob in a Boat download. This circle was cut at 5 1/2 inches in diameter. I added some waves with glossy accents to the bottom of this circle and cut a slit using to fit the bottom of the boat into.
All of the files you need to create this card live right here > Bob the Dog in a Boat.
The file comes complete with
a black & white image and a pre colored image
2 printable greetings
6 printable digital paper designs
SVG & DXF files for cutting
How amazing is that! The only thing more incredible than that would be that it’s cheap… and instant!!
You can be creating this card and many more in minutes!
Ok… back to the card, now that you know where to get all of the images, papers and sentiments.
I cut another pattern paper at 5 3/4 in diameter and cut it in half to decorate the card inside as well as a white layer cut at the same size and cut in half to create a section to write on inside the card.
**Do not place a full circle onto the inside of the card or it will impede the rocking motion of the card.
** Be sure the fold is for the circle card base is well creased.
I colored the image included in the Bob in a Boat files and slide the image into the slit that had been cut in the pattern paper layer for the card front and attached it to the card using foam tape.
The sentiment “ Love You a Yacht” was included in the files - I trimmed around it to better fit the shaping of the round card and glued it in place.
I added a few rhinestones to create the illusion of sun glimmering off of the water and set my card a sail.
It rocks away as though the ocean waves were knocking the boat from side to side.
Absolutely adorable!!
The 6 inch card size was just perfect and I liked it far better than the smaller version, however…
A Bigger Card meant a bigger envelope…
At this point it was clear I was going to have to create a custom envelope.
So that’s where the bonus project comes in…
An envelope for a 6 inch card tutorial. This envelope will work for any 6 inch card.
