Happy BRR-thday! - A Craft Stash Creation
What is a “Craft Stash Creation”??
A “craft stash creation” happens when you sit down at your desk with no intent or purpose other than to use up a mash of products that may be hanging about on your workspace.
Scattered on my desktop:
Images that were printed or stamped with the intent of becoming a card at some point, and not colored.
Pieces of pretty pattern paper that were leftover from other projects.
Samples of digital pattern paper that were actually experiments when trying to see which printer printed with better results.
A page or two of printed Christmas themed sentiments.
A few packages of random winter themed embellishments, as well as some beautiful purple shaded rhinestones.
3 Snowflake dies of no actual origin.
Several tear off pieces of mint tape.
A snow themed sentiment stamp set that I purchased last year.
A simply sweet toaster light, which has absolutely nothing to do with crafting but it’s definitely adorable and seems to make my heart happy. :)
A teeny little card that my grand daughter made for me on her last visit ( she’s incredibly talented ).
I just want to add here that the above wide array of items on my desktop is actually while my workspace is considered to be in clean mode. I do have a very large workspace - which is a blessing given the amount of random things I seem to have lingering about.
From the above items I picked up a rather cute little snowman image from Whimsy Stamps - A Frosty Cup of Cocoa that I had printed a few weeks ago with the full intentions of creating a scene card. As Christmas approaches and quickly I might add, the hopes of this little snowman actually making it to center stage on a Holiday card front were turning into slim to none.
I started to color him since I had no other real purpose for being at my desk since it wasn’t even a planned crafting day and was more than likely that I was avoiding a full on bathroom renovation on the lower floor.
Renovations are hectic - coloring brings me peace and serenity.
This little snowman with his spindly twig like arms and legs quickly started to take shape. I hadn’t even thought about the color scheme I was using, but rather just seemed to be unequivocally choosing colors and hoping for a successful outcome.
I rather liked him, and the fact that he seemed to be drinking coffee meant that this little snowman and I were forming a lasting friendship while bonding over our love of coffee.
Maybe it’s hot chocolate or tea? No.. in my world it must be coffee!!
Peeking at me from between a haphazard pile of printed papers were some lovely hints of blue. I dug further to disclose a flurry of winter wonderland snowflakes all patterned together on a printed piece of digital paper. This piece of paper was never intended to actually be anything - it was from a former print test to determine which of my printers produced a more vibrant display of color.
The stage is set, this paper would make the perfect background for my chillin’, coffee drinking snowman!
A small dress rehearsal with this snowman and beautiful winter paper from Polkadoodles told me that this story was going to need some supporting actors. In other words - the card front was lacking something?!
There was just to much of that beautiful paper, if that’s possible.
When I had cut the paper to the preferred size, my paper trimmer (which has a bit of a magnetic force) had snatched up a metal die that I had to retrieve from the back of the trimmer before moving forward. I had sat it back in a temporary pile that it along with it’s snowflake descendants seemed to be calling home at this point.
Aha!! Snowflakes!! These snowflake dies will create the supporting actors I need to pull this card together.
As I had said previously, Christmas is fast embarking upon us and in the card making world it seems that a switch was pulled overnight and suddenly social media is filled with Valentine cards and heart themed crafting supplies. Given this insight, it didn’t seem that my card should be intended for Christmas, but rather a winter themed card. So… Happy Winter?!
No, that wouldn’t do. No one is really happy in winter, are they??
Also on my desk was a snow themed sentiment stamp set that I had purchased last year and used quite frequently, and had recently pulled the stamp set out to use on another card.
Papertrey Ink - Just Sentiments- Snow
I don’t like to pick favorites but from this stamp set I was rather partial to the “Happy BRR-thday to you” sentiment, and it was simply perfect to headline this card. I stamped the sentiment in a grey toned ink and trimmed up the sentiment to somewhat match with the semi rounded corner theme I seemed to have going with the pattern paper.
Just one more thing - the card will need a few sparkles reminiscent of glistening snow on a blustery winter day. Violet Studio’s - Ski Lodge Embellishments (now sold out), just sitting around, hanging out after using the stars from the assortment on tiny Christmas tree tags.
Included in the offerings of this set of snowy bling are some teeny snowballs as well as the dazzling blue rhinestones that made their way onto this super cute Winter Brr-thday card.
I love it when a “craft stash creation” happens. Simple, mindless, fun card creating with no intent or purpose - just absolute creativity, no pressure crafting with a fabulous result!
Without further procrastination, I must muddle my way through drywall dust and back to a bathroom renovation…
