A “Ribbiting” Box Card
Create a super fun scene filled with dimension and these adorable frogs in the form of a box card layout using these “punny”stamp sets from PolkaDoodles.
“Unfrogettable” & “Toadal Sweetheart”
Both of these adorable stamp sets are actual physical product - so not digital images.
I simply adored these stamps sets and wanted to create with them, and a few other of PolkaDoodle physical products, so I decided to place and order and see just how long it would take to arrive from the UK.
I mean how long could it take? Eventually it would arrive right?!
And it did- 3 weeks later!! Which I didn’t think was that bad at all. Shipping was I think about 16 bucks which is completely no different than the shipping we face from the US or perhaps even here in Canada.
I was pleasantly pleased. However when the products arrived I was even more delighted!
Everything was packaged well and made it through the long journey with no damages. So that was great!
The products themselves were of fantastic quality! The stamps have their own little design sheet with colored images which is very easy to put your stamp back onto the sheet after using it. I thought this was a nice bonus for my sometimes hard of sight eyes.
I didn’t get dies for this set - but I did get dies with the Botanical Bliss collection and they cut as smooth as butter!!
The Botanical Bliss Collection has stamps, dies, and stencils for each set. So amazing… you have just got to check that out.
I will be showcasing some beautiful cards created with the products from that collection coming up next week… so be sure to watch for those!
Onto this adorable “Ribbiting Box Card”!!
The card features images from both stamp sets, some die cut waves ( which isn’t really a wave die cut at all ), some ink blending, and some simple measurements to create this box card itself.
This box card design could be used with many other images as well. I’d love to see what you create with it!!
Measurements:
Cut 2 - White cardstock - 6 x 1 3/4
Score both at 1/2, 5, 5 1/2
The above pieces create the actual box. Adhere to the 2 strips together using the 1/2 sections as tabs.
Back Panel:
4 1/2 x 3 1/4 - Trim a tiny slice off the 4 1/4 side ( like just an 1/8 of an inch or less ).
Inside Sections:
Cut 2 - 5 1/2 x 1 1/2
Score 1/2 in each end of both pieces.
With these 2 sections cut across the edges of them using a scallop edge die upside down. This will give you the look of waves.
Ink blend using some blue/green colored ink. Darker in some places than others.
Working with the back panel - and a cloud stencil, ink blend in a nice sky blue color to create a background clouds and sky. If you don’t have a could stencil simply blend with the blue ink in random places to create patches of white and blue for a sky.
Adhere the back panel using tear and tape across the bottom edge of the back of the panel and attach to the back section of the box. ( The back panel fits inside the box ).
Add tear and tape to the 1/2 inch tab sections of the wave panels and adhere inside the box frame. Leaving space between each panel.
Stamp and color the desired images, fussy cut the images, and glue into place on the desired positions of the waves panels.
I added some cat tails from the stamp set in different places on the card as filler for my scene, as well as a lily pad for one frog to sit on.
I stamped a colored a dragonfly also included in the stamp set to add some interest to the back panel.
I cut a tiny strip of window sheet about 1/4 of inch by 2 inches and attached the bee to the top of it using a glue dot and attached the other end of the strip behind one of the wave panels to create the illusion of the little bee flying around in the air since you don’t see the strip of window sheet.
I stamped the sentiment “I hop we are friends forever” on a scrap of white cardstock and attached to the front section of the box. Which had also been ink blended to match with the wave panels.
I had a some faux sea glass embellishments in my stash so I added a few of those on the front of the box card to go along with the water theme. You can use any rhinestones or gems that coordinate with your project.
The box collapses flat to fit in an envelope for mailing.
The recipient is going to have so much fun with this card. It comes out of the envelope and it’s like a tiny story book with all of it’s dimension that pulls one’s imagination right into the scene on the card.
I hope you decide to give this box card a try! If you do I would surely love to hear about your creation in the comments below!
Happy Crafting!!
